Six Inches Taller!

Chanel Spring/Summer 2010

Whilst roaming around the net and other blogs I came across these beauties!!
The Clog trend for (European) Spring/Summer 2010 has been widely debated. Some love! Others... Lets just say, don't love. The time when this shoe trend came to the forefront and people sat up and took notice was at Chanel's Spring/Summer 2010 collection featuring many a variety of this shoe, including pairing them with the bridal wear that was also featured in the show.
What was once reserved for surgeons and lets say those still trying to relive the 70's has now been elevated to a new level! As far as i'm concerned, if it's good enough for Karl then it's good enough for me!
And whilst I personally don't know if I will fall head first into the Clog craze, I feel these babies not only follow the wooden platform/clog trend but they are trans seasonal and just generally lush!

Trinkets, trinkets everywhere!

For those who know me well, and my terrible habits, I can guarantee I have fallen under the title of being a 'hoarder' more than once in my lifetime. I love a good trinket, beautiful perfume bottle (full or empty), box, or vintage piece that comes my way.
By definition a trinket is 'a small ornament, piece of jewellery, etc., usually of little value.' Well if I may... I beg to differ on the value side of things. Every 'trinket' of mine has its own individual value. Yes some more sentimental than others, but each very dear in its own right.
Often the biggest problem with being what I like to call a 'collector of lovely things' (sounds much nicer than 'hoarder') is having space to store and keep it all!!

It's Time.

Being a long weekend this weekend, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to attempt to be productive and about time I did something with all those prints and photos I've forever been meaning to do something with.
I have a small space on one of my walls that was crying out to be filled. I love the look of eclectic prints so decided to frame some photos of some Banksy wall art I had as well as some old photos of my parents that I just love. I think the odd mix quite works.
In addition to adding to my wall, I bought some beautiful white roses to liven up my room! Its amazing how something so minor can make such a difference.

Beautiful.

(photos by Mimmy)
Over the weekend we had the most glorious weather. SO typical of Melbourne! It was only last week I was dusting off the old winter jackets, wearing stockings and boots and even wrapped myself up in my pashmina before venturing past my front door.
It was as though the sun gods had decided to let us know and that they weren't completely done with us and officially in hibernation and to not to give up hope at the idea that winter was quickly coming upon us.
In celebration I bought these beautiful flowers from my local fruit/vegetable/flower man on Chapel Street and just loved the colour of the petals going from purple to white.

It's that time of year again...

Rainy Day
The beautiful autumn colours in our trees...
Well here we are again... it is that time of year and my oh my has it come around fast. And whilst today is lovely,  this week has given us a true dose of autumn weather and our winter feels as though it is running full speed towards us. Time to pull out the boots, jumpers, scarves, jackets, stockings and winter dresses layering it all up to try and stay nice and warm.
You haven't experienced an Australian winter until you have lived in Melbourne. It is an amazing experience. The leaves change and go through the full spectrum of summer to autumn/winter colours. The trees drop their beautiful big leaves everywhere clogging up the blue stone gutters. And yes, you actually get to wear a proper winter jacket.
Time to officially put the summer dresses into storage and dust off the winter ones.
Hope your all keeping warm!

To thigh, or not to thigh...

Rocking out 'those' boots.

Willow Autumn/Winter 2008

There is something to be said for the new Autumn/Winter 2010 trend of the elusive 'Thigh High Boot'. Ever since Willow sent her thigh high lace ups down the runway in 2008 and Isabel Marant created those amazing suede thigh high boots for the Fall/Winter 2009-2010 collection they have been the 'must have trend' for our coming winter season this year.
But as i sit and write this post i wonder... Should this trend be only for the models and girls with the stick thin/chicken legs or can it be something accessible to all? And then there is the issue of what to wear with them? It is something one must consider very carefully, as no matter how fabulous the trend we must be conscious of the 'tacky factor'.
I gave in and have just bought a pair myself and I feel personally the jury is still out on whether i can pull them off with all the attitude they require... But hey... here's to trying!

A New Beginning

Those moments with friends that we share...
Letting go...
Since setting up this blog I have spent countless nights trying to work out exactly how to begin or start this new adventure off. I have always known what i wanted to include and how i wanted to structure it but actually putting up my first post has been a daunting experience.

So.... I thought i would start from the beginning and give you a quick/brief run down of me and how i ended up where i am today.

I always promised myself i would never let matters of the heart affect me. They were something i saw as weak and childish and refused to be 'one of those girls'. Thinking i had the strength to conquer whatever came into my path, i fell in love with a boy, my first love, the sort of love you really only experience once in your life, and naively gave him every part of me, not thinking what the consequence would be.

As most fairy tales do, it ended with a broken heart and I packed it into a 30kg suitcase and moved to the other side of that big spance of land we know as our home. I found myself here. In Melbourne. Knowing no one except my grandparents who i had never spent an awful lot of time with as a child. Here was where my heart was to be mended.

Its been several years now and on some level i dont think you ever fully mend from an experience like that, but, I now have the most amazing friends, boyfriend and family who have made me what i am today and thank them every bit for the contribution they have made to my life. They have been the ones who have pushed me through, help me move on, move around and move up in this world and without them who knows where i would be.

This blog is a representation of all things me. Photos, fashion, ideas, thoughts and feelings. It will act as a visual diary and inspiration board.  My restarting, my rejuvenation, my reawakening... I hope you enjoy.
