After a beautiful warm week in Melbourne, the dumpage of rain that was predicted for this weekend began to fall. And when I say rain... I mean rain!
Being such a warm day Friday, that night started as a lovely balmy evening. However, the evening quickly turned humid and not long after, the heavens opened to drop enough rain to give Melbourne it's average monthly rain fall in the space of an evening. Since then... it hasn't stopped.
I got up Saturday morning with mixed feelings about what the weather had brought. Yes, we NEED the rain, and having been affected by drought for the last 5 years, Melbournians are finally looking forward to green gardens this summer. And yes, a rainy Saturday means you have the perfect excuse to potter around the house, doing not much at all and at no point do you feel guilty about this when you stop and hear the rain still pouring on your tin roof.
Unfortunately, it does mean however, that at the end of this weekend I know I will feel as though I haven't achieved anything or made the most of the time I have off before having to go back to work on Monday.
In the busy lives we lead maybe, when these random and freak weekends come along and you are forced to remain inside, its natures way of telling us we need to slow down, enjoy the down time off doing nothing and be happy with the rest our bodies are receiving.
And so, in saying this... Let it rain!
